After making a bold entrance into the EV market nearly three years ago and earning numerous industry accolades, including the 2023 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year, a significantly refreshed Kia EV6 was unveiled today at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. Featuring updated front and rear designs, enhanced premium interior touches, and newly packaged trim levels with added features and amenities, the EV6 continues to strengthen its position in the CUV and EV segments by building on its award-winning formula.
The 2025 EV6 will be assembled at Kia Georgia’s assembly plant alongside the EV9 and will be available in Light (RWD only), Light Long Range (RWD or e-AWD), Wind (RWD or e-AWD), GT-Line (RWD or e-AWD), and GT (e-AWD) trims. It’s expected to go on sale in the first half of next year.
STYLING: KEEPING UP WITH THE KIA FAMILY
The 2025 Kia EV6 receives subtle yet impactful updates for a sportier look while retaining its distinct identity. New Star Map lighting shapes the headlights, DRLs, and 3D taillights, creating a high-tech, dynamic appearance. A sharper front bumper, hood character lines, and wing-shaped rear bumper enhance the design. Updated cladding and angled side sills refine its stance, while fresh 19- to 21-inch wheel designs complete the look.
Inside, a horizontal theme boosts the cabin’s open feel. The standard dual 12.3-inch curved display integrates the cluster and center screen for an immersive experience. Inspired by the EV9, the updated interior features Star Map lighting, a D-shaped steering wheel, and a sleek center console, combining high-tech and sporty aesthetics.
Slight dimension changes improve style and comfort, with the overall length and front overhang increasing by 0.6 inches, enhancing its sportier stance.
PERFORMANCE: GOING THE EXTRA MILE(S)
Building on the success of the 2024 EV6 Light Long Range, Kia enhances the 2025 EV6 with larger battery options and improved performance. The standard 63.0 kWh battery delivers 167 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, while the 84.0 kWh option offers up to 319 miles of range with 225 hp and 258 lb.-ft. in RWD trims. AWD models generate 320 hp and 446 lb.-ft., with the GT delivering 601 hp and up to 641 hp in GT mode, alongside the immersive Virtual Gear Shift feature.
The ultra-fast 800-volt DC charging system continues, with a relocated charge port (excluding GT models) supporting the North American Charging Standard(vi). Updates to the ICCU enhance output density for more efficient charging.
Ride and handling improvements include refined steering response and a new electric tilt & telescopic column, while added soundproofing and a reinforced frame improve cabin quietness and safety. Long-range models also gain a 2,700-lb. towing capacity(vii) with automatic trailer weight detection.
