2025 Lexus RZ Expands Its All-Electric Lineup

PLANO, Texas (Nov. 15, 2024) — The 2025 Lexus RZ brings more options to consumers in the BEV marketplace, adding the entry-level grade to its RZ 300e and RZ 450e AWD lineup. With this addition, the RZ now offers three grades as it continues to showcase a minimal yet refined interior and a smooth, quiet ride that’s become synonymous with the Lexus brand.
The 2025 RZ is built at the Motomachi Plant in Toyota City, Japan, and goes on sale later this year.
A CHOICE OF RZS TO SUIT DRIVING NEEDS
[RZ 300e]
The FWD RZ 300e, powered by a 72.8kWh CATL lithium-ion battery, delivers 201 horsepower. Its EPA-estimated range is 266 miles with 18” wheels (MPGe: 137/112/125) and 224 miles with 20” wheels (MPGe: 114/96/105).
The FWD model features a subframe instead of the AWD’s rear eAxle, reducing vibrations and noise for a smoother, quieter ride.
[RZ450e]
The RZ 450e features the DIRECT4 all-wheel drive system, introduced with the 2023 Lexus RX, combining a rear eAxle, front motor, and engine. It uses two high-torque eAxle units (150 kW front, 80 kW rear) with lightweight aluminum motor mounts for balance. DIRECT4 optimizes drive force, traction, and posture control, with torque distribution ranging from 100:0 to 0:100 based on driving conditions.
Powered by a 71.4 kWh PPES battery, the RZ 450e delivers 308 horsepower, a 0-60 mph time of 5.0 seconds, and an EPA-estimated range of 220 miles with 18” wheels (MPGe: 115/98/107). With 20” wheels, the range drops to 196 miles (MPGe: 102/87/95).

ENGAGING DRIVING PERFORMANCE
[e-TNGA Platform]
The RZ’s lightweight e-TNGA steel platform ensures optimal mass placement and high body rigidity. High-tensile steel panels and an aluminum hood reduce weight while boosting durability, supported by advanced techniques like Laser Screw Welding, Laser Peening, short-pitch spot welds, and high-rigidity expansion joints.
Mounting the 96-cell lithium-ion battery pack under the floor lowers the center of gravity, enhancing stability and ride comfort. A urethane sealant protects the reinforced structure from dust and water, while water-cooling and heating systems maintain optimal battery temperature.
[DRIVING PERFORMANCE]
The RZ features a front MacPherson strut suspension and a rear trailing arm multi-link setup, tuned for improved handling balance, roll posture, and ride comfort.
Rear Frequency Reactive Dampers (FRD) adjust damping force based on road surface frequency, enhancing stability and ride smoothness. Combined with the e-TNGA platform, these systems deliver Lexus Driving Signature traits, including precise weight control, natural posture transitions, responsive steering, and linear braking and acceleration.
[BRAKING AND STEERING]
The RZ’s Lexus Driving Signature is showcased through the Active Hydraulic Booster-G (AHB-G) braking system, which integrates regenerative braking to enhance vehicle posture and provide a responsive pedal feel. Using a high-performance pump motor and independent pressure regulation, it optimizes front-to-rear brake force for stability and comfort. Ergonomic brake pedal pads ensure ease of use.
The Vehicle Braking Posture Control program further refines front-to-rear brake distribution based on braking and suspension inputs, improving handling and body posture during braking and turns.
A standard rack-assist Electric Power Steering (EPS) system minimizes steering effort with a compact motor and reduction gear setup, reducing noise and size while maintaining precise control.
A LOOK TO REFLECT PERFORMANCE
The RZ replaces the Lexus spindle grille with a spindle body design, first seen on the 2023 RX, featuring a roof spoiler to reduce aerodynamic force. Its roof, trunk, and undercover are shaped to minimize drag and smooth airflow.
The side profile showcases fenders that wrap around the wheels, flowing rearward for a dynamic look. Strong rear fender lines emphasize width, while sculpted door shapes add visual intrigue. Without an engine to cool, the RZ has a low hood and minimal front grille with a shutter that closes to reduce air resistance. The rear sports a clean horizontal design with a wide stance, highlighting its performance identity.
An illuminated front "L" emblem indicates charging status and houses a radar sensor, while the rear features a spelled-out LEXUS logo and sharp, distinctive styling. The RZ is available in three grades: entry-level (RZ 300e, RZ 450e AWD), Premium, and Luxury, with 18-inch wheels on lower trims and 20-inch wheels on Luxury trims.
Exterior color options include: Caviar, Copper Crest[1], Iridium[2], Cloudburst Gray[2], Eminent White Pearl[2] and Ether[2]. Copper Crest[4], Ether[3] and Cloudburst Gray[3] are also available as bi-tone paint options with the Premium and Luxury grades.

AN EXPANSIVE AND MINIMALISTIC INTERIOR SPACE
The RZ’s cabin combines minimalist design with luxury, offering a spacious and airy interior. Its compact powertrain, low platform, and thoughtful wheel placement enhance the layout, while a low hood improves visibility. The optional panorama glass roof, with a low-e coating and dimming function, suppresses radiant heat and adds a sense of openness.
The cockpit, inspired by the *tazuna* concept, emphasizes a driver-focused layout. Features include steering wheel-mounted controls, a strategically placed instrument panel, and an optional 10-inch head-up display (HUD). Shift-by-wire technology with a compact dial-type shift knob streamlines drive mode selection and aligns with the minimalist design.
The *oto-kukan* (sound space) concept ensures a quiet cabin by reducing exterior noise through slim A-pillars, a continuous hood seal, sound-dampening materials, and Active Sound Control (ASC). ASC enhances interior serenity by canceling unwanted noise while providing clear EV feedback.
[RADIANT HEATING]
For those seeking a cozy in-cabin experience, available radiant heaters placed at the bottom of the front console quickly and directly heat front passengers’ legs and feet.
[CARGO CAPACITY]
The RZ’s radiant heaters replace the glovebox, offering storage under the center console, in a two-way opening console box, front tray, and door pockets. The rear cargo area holds three golf bags or a large and medium suitcase, with extra space under the deck for smaller items and a charging cable.
[AVAILABLE INTERIOR COMBINATIONS]
The RZ offers three interior color options: Thunderstorm and Macadamia, Palomino, and Dapple Gray. Ambient Illumination is available, with the Luxury grade offering a multi-color option with 50 colors and 14 themes. Door Trim Shadow Illumination is featured on the Premium and Luxury grades.
The standard interior trim is NuLuxe®, with the Luxury grade offering Ultrasuede® trim made from bio-based sustainable materials. The Luxury grade also includes an optional Tsuyasumi film on the center console, creating a textured, modern charcoal effect.

LEXUS SAFETY SYSTEM+ 3.0
1. Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Pedestrian Detection: Detects vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists, providing collision warnings and automatic braking at speeds of 7-110 mph.
- Risk Avoidance Emergency Steer Assist: Adds steering torque in emergencies to prevent lane departure.
- Left Turn Oncoming Vehicle Detection/Braking: Warns and brakes if turning left in front of oncoming vehicles.
2. All-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC): Maintains a preset speed and distance, even in stop-and-go traffic.
- Curve Speed Management: Reduces speed in curves when cruise control is on.
3. Lane Tracing Assist (LTA): Keeps the vehicle centered in its lane when DRCC is active.

CHARGING AT HOME OR ON THE GO
The Lexus RZ includes a dual-voltage charging cable for 120V and 240V outlets and a CCS1 socket for at-home and public charging. With a Level 2 charger, it can fully charge in about 9.5 hours, or reach 80% in 30-35 minutes with a DC fast charger.
For home charging, Lexus dealers offer the ChargePoint® Home Flex Level 2 charger, which is ENERGY STAR® certified, Wi-Fi enabled, and installs indoors or outdoors. It can charge up to 25 miles of range per hour, fully charging the battery overnight.
