02 September 2024, Venice, Italy: With the introduction of the most potent flagship in its 111-year history, Aston Martin is proud to announce the return of its most legendary nameplate: Vanquish.
A technical masterpiece befitting a true class leader, Vanquish sits at the pinnacle of Aston Martin’s fabled front-engined sports car range. Showcasing exceptional in-house engineering ability, a new legend extends this dynastic bloodline in magnificent style.
Highlights include a powerful V12 engine, a bespoke chassis with advanced dynamics technology, carbon fiber bodywork, and an interior that sets new luxury standards. With production limited to under 1,000 units annually, this icon maintains its status in ultra-luxury exclusivity.
The Vanquish, powered by a 5.2-liter Twin-Turbo V12 engine producing 835PS and 1000Nm of torque, sets a new standard in supercar performance with a top speed of 214mph—Aston Martin's fastest series production car yet. This remarkable performance is achieved through refined combustion processes that also meet global emissions standards.
The Vanquish's meticulously engineered chassis and advanced powertrain, chassis, and braking control systems create a unique blend of GT comfort and supercar precision, offering both long-distance comfort and an exhilarating driving experience.
POWERTRAIN
Aston Martin continues its 25-year V12 legacy with the most powerful V12 engine in its core sports car range, delivering 835PS and 1000Nm of torque—the highest specific power output from an Aston Martin V12 at 160PS/Litre. The 2024 Vanquish represents the pinnacle of this evolution, nearly doubling the power and torque of its V12 predecessors since the first Project Vantage in 1998.
The new V12 engine features a strengthened cylinder block, reprofiled camshafts, and redesigned cylinder heads for optimized combustion and efficiency. High-speed, reduced inertia turbochargers boost performance, while 10% higher flowrate fuel injectors ensure peak power and emissions compliance. The Vanquish also introduces a Boost Reserve function, enhancing turbo boost pressure for instant throttle response, particularly useful during overtaking and dynamic driving.
Performance is further enhanced by a fully synthetic engine oil, developed in partnership with Valvoline, which is kept cool by a larger oil cooler with 50% more heat rejection capacity. This helps maintain optimal engine oil pressure under all conditions.
For the first time in an Aston Martin front-engined V12 sports car, the Vanquish pairs a ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox with an electronic rear limited slip differential (e-diff). Integrated with the ESP, this e-diff provides rapid transitions from fully open to 100% locked in 135 milliseconds, improving agility, control, and stability. The 2.93:1 Final Drive Ratio optimizes the Vanquish for a top speed of 214 mph, with a new transmission calibration enhancing shift speeds and driver engagement.
BODY STRUCTURE
The formidable powerplant of the Vanquish requires an equally exceptional chassis, setting new benchmarks for structural rigidity and providing the foundation for a state-of-the-art suspension system. Built around a bonded aluminum body structure with double wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear suspension, the Vanquish offers enhanced dynamics with a 75% increase in lateral stiffness over the DBS 770 Ultimate, thanks to additional underbody stiffening.
The chassis features an 80mm longer wheelbase, a stiffer engine cross brace for greater torsional rigidity, and new Bilstein DTX dampers with bespoke calibration for refined damping performance. A new front undertray and crossmember further improve steering feel and response, while increased lateral strengthening and a thicker rear undertray enhance rear axle stability and overall vehicle dynamic balance.
CHASSIS DYNAMICS
- Dynamic Balance & Drive Modes: Vanquish offers a balanced ride with adaptive drive modes (GT, Sport, Sport+) that adjust suspension, steering, and e-diff settings for different driving experiences, from relaxed cruising to intense performance.
- Advanced Suspension & Steering: Features like Bilstein DTX dampers and non-isolated steering columns enhance handling precision and feedback. The Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) system is calibrated for precise on-center feel and variable assistance depending on drive mode.
