MAIN PRODUCT FEATURES OF THE NEW LX
A NEWLY DEVELOPED HYBRID SYSTEM THAT PRESERVES "RELIABILITY," "DURABILITY" AND "OFF-ROAD PERFORMANCE"
- NEWLY DESIGNED PARALLEL HYBRID SYSTEM
To maintain the LX's reliability and off-road performance during electrification, we use a parallel hybrid system with a 3.5L V6 twin-turbo engine, motor generator, and 10-speed automatic transmission. It keeps full-time 4WD and a Lo-range transfer case. The system seamlessly switches between engine and motor modes.
For the first time in a Lexus, both an alternator and starter are included, allowing the engine to run independently if the hybrid system fails, while retaining key off-road functions like Lo-range and Active Height Control.
- WATER FORDING CAPABILITY EQUIVALENT TO THAT OF TRADITIONAL ENGINE VEHICLES
The vehicle's hybrid main battery is housed in a waterproof structure with an upper and lower tray, located in the rear floor. This design prevents water ingress during deep water crossings, allowing a 700 mm fording capability, similar to conventional engine vehicles. A water sensor inside the tray detects any leaks and alerts the driver through a display.
- PERFORMANCE THAT HARNESSES MOTOR TORQUE
The vehicle combines the motor's responsive torque with a twin-turbo engine for smooth acceleration at low speeds and powerful thrust at high speeds, delivering an engaging driving experience.
Off-road, it enhances Lo-range capability by adding motor-driven power, a first for Lexus. Paired with Multi-Terrain Select modes, this allows precise motor-only driving on rocky paths, dirt roads, and deep snow, ensuring top-notch off-road performance and control.
- EXTERNAL POWER SUPPLY FUNCTION
The vehicle features a waterproof AC inverter under the center console, providing up to 1,500 W or 2,400 W of external power, depending on the region. Power outlets are located at the rear of the center console and on the deck, offering convenience for various activities or as an emergency power source.
- GA-F PLATFORM UPGRADES
To accommodate the added weight and length of the motor generator, a new cross member optimizes the design for a low profile while maintaining ground clearance. The rear engine mount material has been upgraded for durability.
A redesigned spare tire cross allows for hybrid battery installation in the rear floor, optimizing the position while preserving the departure angle for off-road capability.
The 12V auxiliary battery has been moved to the side of the rear deck, with a metal tray and detachable brace for easier replacement and improved rear body rigidity.
THE PURSUIT OF A UNIFIED DRIVING EXPERIENCE: THE LEXUS DRIVING SIGNATURE
At Lexus, we prioritize the Lexus Driving Signature, aiming for a unified driving experience and "engaging driving dialogue" across our lineup. In the new LX, we apply lessons from previous models and advancements in body-on-frame technologies. Extensive testing at the Toyota Technical Center Shimoyama (TTC-S) ensures a driving experience that reflects the Lexus philosophy both on and off-road.
- EFFORTS TO IMPROVE RIGIDITY
The new LX incorporates radiator support modifications from previous Lexus models to improve rigidity, resulting in a more linear steering response. Patch-shaped reinforcement components enhance steering responsiveness while maintaining off-road performance.
Additionally, the instrument panel has been reinforced with extra brackets to boost steering support rigidity, and bracket thicknesses have been optimized, enhancing steering feel and overall handling stability.
- NEWLY-DESIGNED CAB MOUNT CUSHION
The cab mount cushions connecting the body to the frame have been completely redesigned to enhance joint rigidity during twisting, significantly reducing low-frequency vibrations common in body-on-frame vehicles. This new design preserves the inherent benefits of frame vehicles, such as high durability and excellent road noise insulation, while providing a more responsive and refined ride.
- THE FURTHER EVOLUTION OF AVS
The AVS actuator's valve structure has been redesigned for smoother control of damping force during rapid compression, like when driving over bumps, resulting in a smoother ride with fewer jolts. In the Lo-transfer range, damping force control is improved during deceleration from low speeds, minimizing unnecessary vehicle movement and enhancing comfort and confidence on rough terrain.
ENHANCED FEATURES AND EQUIPMENT FOR A MORE COMFORTABLE AND REFINED DRIVING EXPERIENCE
The introduction of the hybrid model brings enhanced functions and equipment even for the engine model.
- ADOPTION OF A 12.3-INCH FULL LCD METER
Essential driving support information is clearly displayed to enhance focus. Along with standard data like battery voltage and oil pressure, drivers can customize the display to show features like a boost meter or hybrid battery status. The vehicle animations for Drive Mode Select and Multi-Terrain Select have also been redesigned.
- ADOPTION OF ELECTRO-SHIFTMATIC (HYBRID MODEL ONLY)
With the introduction of the Electro-Shiftmatic system, a first for Lexus off-road 4WD vehicles, we've enhanced operation and grip for rough terrain maneuvers like 'vehicle rocking.' This includes a new shift knob that balances tactile feel and usability. Additionally, the Advanced Park switch (with remote function) is now easily visible at the top of the center console.
- ADOPTION OF FRONT REFRESH SEATS (DRIVER'S SEAT FOR VIP AND EXECUTIVE MODELS)
A new air bladder-based refresh seat has been added to reduce front-seat occupant fatigue. Accessible via the center display, users can activate the function and select from five massage options—two full-body and three targeted. Intensity can be adjusted across five levels for a personalized experience.
- THE EVOLUTION OF "PLACE AND CHARGE"
The wireless charging pad in the center console has been upgraded for fast charging. In response to rising demand, the VIP and EXECUTIVE models now offer this feature in the front center console, in addition to the rear center console.
