(Crewe, 10 September 2024) Bentley is today launching its first four-door supercar – the new Flying Spur, now in its fourth generation after almost two decades of defining the ultimate luxury performance sedan.

The new Flying Spur, launched with the performance-focused Speed model, features Bentley's Ultra Performance Hybrid, offering remarkable versatility. It can drive up to 47 miles (76 km) in pure EV mode with 90% lower CO2 emissions, ideal for city travel. When performance is needed, the 782 PS hybrid powertrain – 147 PS more than the previous model – achieves 0-60 mph in just 3.3 seconds.

Though its exterior retains the sleek design of the 2019 model, major changes lie in its new powertrain and advanced electrical architecture. Interior updates include new stitching options, 3D diamond hide, wellness features like air ionisation, and the My Bentley App Studio for enhanced driver convenience.

HIGHER PERFORMANCE, LOWER EMIISSIONS
The Flying Spur Speed’s Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain combines a 600 PS 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with a 190 PS electric motor integrated into the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. In Sport mode, it delivers 782 PS and 1,000 Nm of torque, with instant e-motor torque complementing the V8’s power. Compared to the previous model, torque has increased by over 11%, and power by 19%, making it Bentley’s most powerful sedan.

The V8 engine, featuring 350-bar fuel injection, cleaner combustion, and twin single-scroll turbochargers, minimizes emissions without needing cylinder deactivation. The electric motor offers 190 PS and 450 Nm of torque in pure EV mode, with a 25.9 kWh battery providing up to 47 miles (76 km) of range. The hybrid system manages energy flows for various modes, including pure EV, electric boost, and regenerative braking.

Standard features include Bentley’s Performance Active Chassis, Bentley Dynamic Ride, All-Wheel Steering, an electronically controlled Limited Slip Differential, and advanced twin-valve dampers. The car’s rear-biased weight distribution enhances dynamic control and comfort across different driving modes.

EXPRESSIVE AND DISTINCTIVE DESIGN
The performance-oriented Flying Spur Speed features sporty design enhancements, including dark-tinted brightware, a Speed-specific grille, and a new front bumper and rear diffuser. Owners can choose between body-color or carbon fiber finishes for the Styling Specification aero package. LED Welcome Lamps project Bentley’s Wings logo onto the ground, and new 22” Ten Swept Spoke wheels are available in multiple finishes.

Inside, new seat designs with 3D diamond quilting, Dark Chrome trim, and updated driver instrumentation elevate the luxury experience. The optional Bentley Rotating Display remains a highlight, offering a choice between a 12.3” HD display, analogue dials, or handcrafted veneer.

With tens of billions of configuration possibilities and bespoke options through Mulliner, customers can create a uniquely personalized Flying Spur. The interior offers 700 leather color combinations, eight veneer options, and three audio systems, including a Naim 2,200 W system with 19 speakers for audiophiles. Laminated acoustic glass ensures a quiet ride, reducing exterior noise by nine decibels.

CONVENIENCE, WELLNESS AND SAFETY
The fourth-generation Flying Spur Speed features advanced electrical architecture, improving infotainment, driver assistance, and connected car services. New to this model is the optional Wellness Seating Specification for all four seats, offering Seat Auto Climate and Postural Adjust, which optimizes body temperature and relieves muscle fatigue through zoned heating, ventilation, and pressure variation.

The environment display in the driver's panel enhances semi-assisted driving by showing how the car interacts with other vehicles, supporting features like Intelligent Park Assist. Additionally, the air conditioning system now includes air ionizers, a particulate filter, and air quality monitoring that synchronizes with the navigation system to adjust cabin air when needed.

The new Flying Spur Speed offers enhanced connectivity with features like wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and over-the-air map updates. Additionally, customers can enjoy connected car services, including remote charging status monitoring, Remote Park Assist, and remote cabin pre-conditioning for climate control and seat heating.

Bentley plans to introduce future updates like green traffic light prediction, available in major US and European cities, ensuring smoother city drives. The new My Bentley App Studio also expands the digital ecosystem, allowing customers to download apps like music, video, gaming, and navigation directly to the infotainment system, tailored to each market.

SPUR OF THE MOMENT
To celebrate the launch of the new Flying Spur, Bentley teamed up with icons from the world of motorsport – both young and old. 1996 F1 World Champion Damon Hill is joined by rising star and Williams F1 Academy driver Lia Block in a dynamic display of the car’s abilities on-track, with a surprise cameo at the close of the film by fellow F1 alumnus and now broadcasting legend Martin Brundle – who arrives in the Bentley EXP Speed 8 that he drove for Bentley at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2001.
