Description

1992 Autozam-AZ1

REMARKS:
Immaculate Cond., Mint running Condition, Original Panels, Very Rare, Low Miles

Introducing the world's most expensive and most unsuccessful Kei-car produced. Built by Suzuki and sold by Mazda‘s Autozam, the AZ-1 took a good 9 years to go from concept to production. When it was finally launched, it came right in the middle of Japan’s recession.

The sales target of 800 cars per month quickly left the window and in 1995 total production did not exceed 5000. Comparing to others in the Kei-car segment, the Cappuccino and Beat out sold the AZ-1 sixfold. This was at large also due to the fact that the price of the AZ-1 was a shy off a Eunos Roadster.

Thanks to all the unfortunate circumstances that happened, the AZ-1 has now become the rarest and most collectible of all the Kei Cars.

This particular specimen was bought new locally and kept under shade throughout its life. Every piece of its body panel is still brand new and rust free. Its futuristic exoskeleton panels are fastened with factory clip-ons unlike others which would have corroded away.

This pocket rocket packs a punch too, the tiny turbo charged engine revs spiritedly up to 9000rpm. Idle is smooth and the gear shifts are also precise; a testament that the car has not been subjected to rough use. Even the bubble cockpit and the gull wing glasses are scratch free which is very ideal as they are rare to come by.

It is very hard to find mint survivor specimens of late and those who call high prices do not reflect the condition. Be the first to own the last of the mint survivors. Less than a handful in Malaysia
